We mourn the loss of our founding member
On December 17, 2025, our founding member Wera Bollmann passed away at the age of 97.
Wera Bollmann lived in Groß Gievitz for 61 years and, long before the association was founded, made an enormous contribution to the research and preservation of our church. Her interest in art and history brought to light much of what we know today about the village and the church. Starting in 1996, she published several volumes on the history of Groß Gievitz and the Counts of Voß, on the district administrator Georg Jacob Becker, and on the Schmidt family of pastors.
She also wrote a church guide to the church in Groß Gievitz. Many people have been guided through the church by Wera Bollmann, discovering the secrets of the frescoes and much more. Four years ago, we were able to capture some of her knowledge in a long interview in a film. This film can be seen as part of the multimedia exhibition in our church and on our website “Unsere Kirche” (Our Church).
We look back with great gratitude on her decades of work researching and preserving the village church in Groß Gievitz and will continue our work in her lasting memory. Our heartfelt sympathy goes out to her family.

Purpose of the association
The association serves cultural and ecclesiastical purposes. It promotes the structural preservation of the church in Groß Gievitz as well as the restoration and conservation of its art treasures.
It helps maintain the church and its grounds. The association promotes the interests of church music in Groß Gievitz.
